Kenai River Pan & Float Trip in Alaska
Trying your hand at gold panning is definitely on your wish list for your Alaska vacation. So is experiencing the scenic beauty of the Kenai River. The problem is you don’t have a full day to devote to either activity, plus you don’t relish the thought of standing in a cold Alaskan stream until your legs go numb. Prospector John’s has the solution: our half-day Pan & Float Trip!
Learn to pan for gold in the Alaskan wilderness
Phase 1 of your Pan & Float Trip begins at Prospector John's sluicing operation in Cooper Landing, AK. One of our friendly staffers will provide you with a sluice box and a gold pan, and show you how to use them properly. After that, we turn you loose to „pan your poke“ for approximately two hours. This will be a hands-on experience as you shovel your own bucket of paydirt and search for shiny nuggets of gold!
All aboard for adventure
Phase 2 of Prospector John’s Pan & Float Trip is a scenic 3 hour rafting trip through the Kenai Mountains and the Wildlife Refuge. The sheer beauty of this trip will leave you awestruck as you pass by the confluence of the Russian and Kenai Rivers where the world famous combat fishing for Red Salmon takes place. Be sure to bring your camera, because chances are excellent that you’ll see moose, bears, eagles, Dahl Sheep, and mountain goats – from a safe distance, of course. Upon docking at Jim’s Landing, vans will be waiting to escort you back to Prospector John's.
